The No. 8 Red Raiders were down by as many as 10 before storming back to tie the game at 61 with two minutes remaining only to see the Cyclones answer with two quick baskets that propelled them to a 68-64 win on Wednesday at a sold-out United Supermarkets Arena. TTU (15-2, 4-1 Big 12) fell to 10-1 on its home court this season and dropped its first conference game after going 6-for-15 from the free-throw line, while ISU (13-4, 3-2 Big 12) was 13-for-19 at the line.
Iowa State shot 43.9 percent from the field which was the second-best from an opponent against Texas Tech this season and went the entire first half without a committing a turnover. The two teams would both finish the game with nine turnovers in a game that came down to the free throw difference.
TTU, which trailed 41-33 at halftime, is now 5-1 in games where it was down at halftime.
Jarrett Culver recorded his second double-double of the season after going for 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Davide Moretti added 10 points with two 3-pointers, after 38 (!!!) minutes of a really hard game!
Texas Tech will return to action at 5 p.m. on Saturday against Baylor in Waco. The Bears (10-6, 2-2 Big 12) are coming off a 73-69 win over Oklahoma State on Monday and are 7-3 at the Ferrell Center this season.
