A truly complicated match for the Red Raiders who never manage to enter the game, especially from the offensive point of view: Texas Tech will shoot throughout the match with 33% from the field and from three points and will only make five trips in bezel. Oklahoma, taking advantage of the bad evening of the opponents, maintains the double-digit advantage practically throughout the match.

Oklahoma starts immediately very strong and in the first 5 minutes goes 2-11. Texas Tech tries to enter the game with Edwards’ basket, but in the middle of the game the opponents get the first double-digit advantage, 6-19 after 10 minutes of play. In the second half of the time, the Red Raiders try to give continuity to their attack, hitting several times and, despite the opponent’s baskets in response, manages to conquer -9 with Moretti’s triple, 17-26 after 16’. The first half ends with another hit and baskets response that sets the score at 22-32 in favor of Oklahoma after 20 minutes of play.

At the start of the second half, Texas Tech seems to be starting well, but the opponents also do it and after having fought back at the Red Raiders ‘baskets, they go to +16, 26-42 after 5’ of the second period. Texas Tech, despite yet another break of the match, I try to bounce back with a partial 5-0, but Oklahoma’s response is immediate and comes with another 10-3 counterbreak that makes +18 opponents fly, 34 -52 to 6 ‘from the end. The Red Raiders, despite the bad night, do not lose heart but try again to make up again by returning to -10 to 3.39’ from the end, 46-56. The last minutes of the game, however, are all registered by Oklahoma which, not satisfied, continues to score and the siren wins the victory. The final score is 51-65 in favor of Oklahoma.

For Davide Moretti a performance “in line” with that of his team, in a really complicated game from the offensive point of view. Closes with 3 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assists in 26 minutes.

A great offensive and mental test by the Red Raiders who take off from the second half of the first half and never stop, annihilating the opponents basket after basket. A good test also from the point of view of character for Texas Tech who, despite the wide advantage, never gave up the blow, remaining concentrated until the end. The boys of coach Beard thus obtain a very useful victory both for morale and for the ranking.

The basket that opens the dances of the match is by Davide Moretti, followed then by his teammate Ramsey, but the Cyclones after the first minutes marked Texas Tech, take control of the match thanks to a partial 8-0, 4-8. The Red Raiders bounce back, the opponents respond while maintaining the lead, but Texas Tech manages to get back on top in the half-time, 21-18 after 10 minutes of play. In the second half of the first period, the Red Raiders are offensively lethal and, in no time, they mark a heavy break, which allows them to reach even +22, 49-27 at 2’ from the end of time. Iowa State tries to bounce back five consecutive points, but the first-half goal is Texas Tech. The score after 20’ is 51-35 in favor of the Red Raiders.

At the start of the second half, Iowa State tries to reduce the disadvantage, but Texas Tech always remains very focused and responds blow by blow to each attacking opponent, leaving his advantage practically unchanged at 10’ from the end, 65-50. The last part of the race is pure garbage time, which only serves the Red Raiders to increase their advantage, with the opponents who are no longer mentally in the game. At the final siren the score is 87-57 in favor of Texas Tech.

For Davide Moretti a good first half from the offensive point of view. Closes the match with 9 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound in 34 minutes.

A very exciting game, made of breaks and against breaks, with the opponents who have never allowed the Red Raiders to find and consolidate the decisive advantage, if not just a few minutes from the end. Davide Moretti, the #25 in Texas Tech jersey, absolute star of the second half, with 15 points scored, a true driver of his. The Red Raiders with this victory consolidate third place alone in Big 12, pending two consecutive trips (Iowa State and Oklahoma).

The first minutes of the match are all registered by Texas Tech which, with an excellent start, within two minutes scores a 7-1 break. Kansas State, however, finds the strength to respond immediately, despite the not exciting start, and after 7’ the match is in perfect equality, 10-10. After the opposing response, the Red Raiders find a 10-0 counterbreak, which gives him the first double-digit advantage, 10-20 half-time. Kansas State tries to shorten immediately, but receives the response from Texas Tech that responds blow by blow, keeping its advantage intact, 28-17 at 4’ from the end. The last minutes of the first period, however, are all registered Kansas State that with a good partial manages to shorten and return to the game, returning below -3. In the second half the game goes live, with the two teams, now at close range. Davide Moretti immediately tries to shake up his team with 5 consecutive points that move Texas Tech away, but Kansas State is always there and after 4’ game he wins -1, 37-36. The two teams continue to respond to the sound of break and counter break, with the Red Raiders trying to escape and a Kansas State that is dying that always grabs opponents. Another five consecutive points by Davide Moretti kick off what will be the decisive partial of the race: in fact, with a good choral performance, Texas Tech finally manages to defensively fight the opponents and find the double-digit advantage, right with the baskets of #25, 64-51 at 1.37’ from the end. Kansas State can do little now, but it is hard to die, trying several times to reduce the disadvantage, but not succeeding now. The game ends with the score 69-62 for Texas Tech.

For Davide, a second half as authentic leader and MVP of the match, always present in terms of points in the highlights of the race, which allowed the Red Raiders to win the victory. Closes with 18 points, 4 assists, 2 stolen, 2 rebounds in 38 minutes.

A very hard-fought race, with the teams facing each other openly for 40 minutes, challenging each other with the sound of baskets and overtaking and counter-overtaking. Decisive in the negative, for Texas Tech, a last minute of bloody game in which there were heavy mistakes, both in terms of free and of lost balls, which did not allow the Red Raiders to recover the disadvantage and obtain the victory.

The start of the match is all OSU license plate which, with 8 consecutive points in the first 4 minutes, immediately puts the head forward. Texas Tech finds the way to the basket only after 5 ‘from the start of the match, trying to shorten with Edwards and Ramsey, but the opponents reply to each basket, 5-11. The hit and answer of baskets continues, with Texas Tech who, after 10 minutes of play, manages to find his first advantage with a jumper from Moretti, 15-14. The distance between the teams is minimal, with OSU that after a few minutes takes over the head of the match and the Red Raiders who respond accordingly, again taking the lead on the end of the first half. After 20 minutes of play, the score is 29-27 in favor of Texas Tech.

In the second period, the Red Raiders start off well and, after gaining the lead in the first half, try to consolidate it in the first minutes of the second, going to +8 after 4 ’of the game, 40-32. OSU tries to respond, but Texas Tech continues to drive back opponents, 48-41 12 ‘from the end. However, OSU does not give up and, with an important partial of 6-0, he returns definitively to the game, reaching -1 to 11 ‘from the end, 48-47. Now the distances between the two teams are again reduced to the minimum terms, with both facing each other openly, fighting the head of the game basket after basket, with the game that 7 ‘from the end is in perfect equality on 58-58. After the draw, however, OSU is back in the lead after so many minutes, with Texas Tech now forced to chase, 65-66 at 2.46 ‘from the end. Holyfield brings the Red Raiders back from the line, OSU does the same with three free throws and McCullar again 20” from the end marks the -1 for Texas Tech, 69-70. The last few seconds of play for the Red Raiders, however, are a succession of errors and confusion with wrong free decisives and bloody lost balls, which do not allow Texas Tech to try to recover the disadvantage and bring home the victory. The game ends with the score 70-73 in favor of OSU.

For Davide Moretti a good test with 15 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 ball stolen in 40 minutes.

Thanks to a great performance, the Red Raiders dominate the opponents from the beginning to the end of the game, without ever mentioning drop, and they also write a piece of history, winning the game with the largest score of Big 12 points in the history of Texas Tech. In this beautiful choral victory, Davide Moretti on the shields with a great offensive performance that, especially in the first half, allowed Texas Tech to find a consistent advantage. Now the Red Raiders are three in a row with a different head and awareness than at the beginning of the season.

To start the dance in the match against TCU is the triple by Davide Moretti which starts the first break of Texas Tech, 11-2 after 3’ of play. TCU tries to respond after a great start from the Red Raiders, but the boys of coach Beard don’t want to know about stopping and continue to hammer opponents with baskets and, thanks to an unprecedented ballistic performance this season and also to the usual constancy defensive, Texas Tech breaks through the wall of twenty points of advantage already in the first half and touches the +27 at 4’ from the end of the period, 40-13. TCU tries to react timidly by scoring 7 consecutive points and trying to have some continuity, but to close the first half are three Holyfield points that allow the Red Raiders to go to rest on +25. After 20 minutes of play, the score is 40-25, with a great test by Davide Moretti, top scorer of the match halfway through the game with 13 points scored.

Upon returning to the field, TCU tries at least to assert the honor by trying to reduce the disadvantage, but the performance of Texas Tech does not admit drops in tension and the boys of coach Beard continue relentlessly and consistently to find the way to the basket, reaching in the second half the +35 with a jumper by Davide Moretti, 63-28. The game is now without history with the Red Raiders who continue to score in an avalanche from all over the field and with all their protagonists, in a great choral performance and, finally, excellent from the point of view of the offensive percentages. The maximum advantage touched by Texas Tech will be +46 to 1’ from the end on 86-40, an advantage that will remain so for the final siren. The game ends with the score 88-42 in favor of the Red Raiders.

For Davide Moretti a performance as a true offensive leader, an authentic guide in the first half that allowed Texas Tech to dig the decisive groove for the final victory: 17 points (6/9 from the field, 4/6 from three, 1/3 to free), 1 rebound and 1 assist in 24 minutes.

BIG 12 – TEXAS TECH FROM HELL TO PARADISE: IT’S A WIN AGAINST TEXAS

After a first period characterized, perhaps, by one of the worst performances of the season, with great difficulties both offensive (10 lost balls) and defensive, a second half of a completely different register (43 points scored), in which the Red Raiders have the patience to mend the disadvantage throughout the period and finally to move forward and win the final minutes. A very important away victory for the coach Beard boys who this year, far from their walls, often found themselves in difficulty.

The game starts slowly and in the first minutes of the game the two teams, complicit in several shooting errors on both sides, struggle to move the scoreboard, 8-8 after 8′. Texas, however, after the initial impasse, scored an important part of 14-0 to which Texas Tech is struggling to respond due to offensive problems, 8-22 after 13′ of play. The Red Raiders, led in particular by Terrence Shannon, try to mend the disadvantage, but Ramey’s basket at the end of the period allows Texas to close the first period with a double-digit advantage. After 20 minutes of play, the score is 19-31 in favor of Texas.

Back on the field, Texas Tech knows that if he wants to win, he must change his face and he does it immediately, starting to gnaw the opponent’s advantage point by point, with Davide Moretti who with his triple marks the -7 of the Reds Raiders, 30-37 at 16’ from the end. It is certainly another Texas Tech, however Texas does not give up trying to respond blow by blow, but the Red Raiders score another break and with Edwards they manage to impact the match, 41-41 at 13’ from the end. The two teams now face each other openly, responding basket after basket and keeping the match in balance, but always with Texas ahead, 47-48 at 7’ from the end. At 6’ from the end, however, Texas Tech’s overtaking finally arrives and manages to put his head forward again, after the advantages of the first minutes of the game. The distance between the teams is minimal, with the final minutes characterized by overtaking and counter-passing, in which, however, at 1.42” from the end, Texas Tech is above for 58-57. In the final minutes the Red Raiders show their number one trademark, that is the defense, and make life in Texas difficult, trying in vain to go forward again but is stopped 3 times in a row by the Holyfield’s stalks . To close the match are 4 consecutive free throws by Davide Moretti, freezing cold from the line, which puts an end to Texas’s hopes and gives the victory to his Texas Tech. The game ends with a score of 62-57 in favor of Texas Tech.

For Davide Moretti a game not exciting from the realization point of view, but very intense from the defensive one, with the hand of the # 25 who does not tremble when he has to score the decisive free finals. Closes with 7 points and 6 rebounds in 37 minutes.

A game, in fact, characterized by balance throughout the match, in which the Red Raiders managed to break the decisive step for the final success in the last minutes of the game.

The first baskets of the game are Oklahoma free throws that immediately unlock the scores, Texas Tech enters the game immediately however, also scoring, with the two teams that in the first 10’ of the game are protagonists in a hit and response of baskets, in which, however, the Red Raiders always keep the head of the match, 11-9. In the middle of the first period comes Oklahoma’s first advantage, but he never manages to escape, because Texas Tech responds blow by blow, remaining at close range and impacting the score several times, 25-25 at 3’ from the end of the first period . The balance reigns supreme even in the last minute of the first half, with Oklahoma reaching +4 at 50” from the end, but which is resumed at 18″ from the end by a triple by McCullar, who reports under the Red Raiders. After 20 minutes of play, the score is 31-30 in favor of Oklahoma.

When returning to the field, Texas Tech immediately regains the advantage, but also the opposing response that allows Oklahoma to return above. The game is a lot of fun, with the two teams who, attack after attack, outdo each other in the score, always remaining one point away, 57-56 in favor of Texas Tech at 4.24’ from the end. To give the first real shock of the match, 3 ‘from the end is the triple of Davide Moretti, followed by the basket of Edwards who make the Red Raiders “run away” at +6, 62-56 at 2.10’ from the end. Oklahoma is getting closer with the basket of Reaves, Moretti’s free throws the opponents back, but it is still Reaves with a triple to keep the match in the balance, 64-61 at 1.32’ from the end. The final game, however, is all Texas Tech, which, with the baskets of Holyfield first and with the free end of Moretti then, closes the game and wins the victory. The final score of the race is 68-61 in favor of the Red Raiders who impose themselves on Oklahoma.

A beautiful game between the two teams that, after the first heavy partial of Kansas, chased each other all the time with breaks and against breaks. Texas Tech has repeatedly managed to get close to the opponents, but Kansas has always managed, in the key moments, to push the Texans back. A good test, especially of character, for the Red Raiders, who come out defeated in the score on a difficult field and against a really tough opponent, but who surely pick up something good from this evening.

The start is all Kansas plate which, in the first 4 ‘of the game, displaces Texas Tech with a partial 10-0. The Red Raiders find their first basket after the opponent’s break, but Kansas continues to score, 4-19 after 7 minutes. It is a very complicated start for the coach Beard boys, who mentally remain in the game and thanks to a large partial of 20-7, they manage to get back into the game, going to -2 on 24-26 after 13’ of play. After the comeback of Texas Tech the game starts, with Kansas responding to the Red Raiders with a counter break that allows him to regain the advantage in double figures, 28-38 at 3’ from the end of the first period. Texas Tech before the end of time shortens again to -5, but the last baskets of the time are all from Kansas. After 20 minutes of play, the score is 35-44 in favor of Kansas.

On the return to the field, the beating and response of baskets between the two teams continues, with Texas Tech who, however, after 6’ of play manages to get closer to -3 thanks to a triple scored by Davide Moretti, 46-49. The Kansas counter-break is immediate, with the opponents returning within +9, 48-57. The Red Raiders however, once again are hard to die managing to recover again and return to the game, 55-57 9’ from the end. Kansas, as a leitmotiv, as soon as Texas Tech approaches, immediately manages to cut the wings of enthusiasm for the boys of coach Beard, finding again the double-digit advantage at 5’ from the end, 60-70. It seems very hard for Texas Tech, but the Texans do not give up and return to -4, Kansas responds again by returning to +8, but the Red Raiders despite everything fight and go to -1 to 26” from the end, 75-76. Agbaji from the line is not wrong for Kansas, while for Texas Tech it is fatal, again, the last unfortunate attack, which does not allow the boys of coach Beard to extend the match to extra time. After a breathtaking game, it is Kansas who wins the victory over Texas Tech with the score of 78-75.

For Davide Moretti 9 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound and 1 ball stolen in 39 minutes of play.

The Red Raiders, however, are good at not letting down their guard and, in no time, regaining the double-digit advantage, 84-74 3′ from the end. In the final minutes of the race, West Virginia tries shyly to bounce back, but Texas Tech responds basket after basket and maintains the advantage gained up to the siren. The game ends with the score 89-81 in favor of the Red Raiders who conquer a very important victory in terms of ranking and morale against #12 West Virginia.

A great night also for Davide Moretti, absolute MVP of the race, who writes his career high with a practically perfect shooting performance: 25 points with 6/10 from the field, 4/5 from three and 9/9 to free, 2 assists and 2 stolen balls.
