Tech, which has now won three straight games, shot 54.2 percent in the second half, including knocking down four 3-pointers after missing its first nine 3-pointers of the game.

Texas Tech starts well with a good partial in the first 5’ which allows it to go on 8-3, but the opponents, after the initial shooting errors, become familiar with the basket and return to the game, moving on to 14-13 after 10’. In the second part of the first period UTRGV takes over and with a partial 9-0 conquers its first advantage of the race and goes on +8, 14-22. The Red Raiders keep their nerves and with a counter break they regain the advantage, 26-22 at 2 ‘from the end of the first half. The last minutes of the first fraction, however, are all registered by UTRGV which, thanks to two consecutive baskets, closes the first half ahead. After 20 minutes of play, the score is 26-27 in favor of UTRGV.

The second half begins with two baskets of Texas Tech, which immediately finds the advantage; however, the opponents are not watching and in the first minutes of the second period the two teams answer each other blow by blow, keeping the match in balance. To take off, after 8 ‘minutes of play are the Red Raiders who thanks to a nice collective 11-0 score mark an important break in the game by setting the score on 45-34 at 10’ from the end. UTRGV tries to answer but in front of the second offensive period of Texas Tech the attempt is in vain: the team of coach Beard, once he has gained the advantage, limits himself to administer it and to keep the opponents at a safe distance until the end of the game. The final score of the match is 68-58 in favor of Texas Tech who scores the third consecutive victory.
